Equestrian stars light up Hartpury

A hugely successful Amerigo demo evening at Hartpury College took place on Friday 4 November in front of a 300 strong crowd, raising £800 for charity.

Organised by Zebra Products, the Amerigo Gala Event was expertly compered by eventing supremo Lucinda Green who guided the audience through the evening’s proceedings. Peter Menet, Amerigo’s renowned saddle designer got things started with a talk about horse biomechanics and the importance of saddle fitting.

Amerigo ambassador, Nicola Wilson then took charge for a demo about how to stay sharp and reactive during the winter months. She was ably assisted by Lindsay Middleton and Jeanette Brakewell’s head boy, Dan Alderson who showed how some simple but effective jumping exercises can ensure you and your horse are ready come the new season.

A break followed the Q&A session which included the raffle draw. On arrival, people had been able to purchase tickets to be in with the chance of winning Amerigo goodies. All the money raised will go to The Brooke and the Injured Jockeys Fund.

On resumption, the audience was treated to insight from the Eilberg family. Louise Bell joined Michael and Maria in the arena while trainer Ferdi put them through their paces. Michael also offered valuable training tips, talking through some exercises while Louise was riding. The event was brought to a close with another informative Q&A session.

“We’re thrilled with how well the event went,” said Simon Middleton, managing director at Zebra Products. “It was a great evening and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, taking away lots of tips to try on their own horses at home. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Amerigo as well as the rider ambassadors who gave up their time. We’re already thinking about the next one!”
