The Howden Way Spotlight Awards July Winner

Fifteen-year-old Surrey-based rider Tara Moore has been selected as July’s The Howden Way Spotlight Award winner for ensuring her horse’s welfare is at the heart of everything she does, welcoming and supporting fellow riders, and celebrating development over results. Tara was nominated by British Eventing Level 3 coach Carl Belson from the South East Academy and wins a Uvex riding hat, courtesy of Zebra Products. Read more

The Howden Way Spotlight Award June winner is announced

Scotland-based rider Morag O’Mara has been chosen as June’s The Howden Way Spotlight Award winner for being a great role model and ambassador for the sport. As part of her award, Morag wins a uvex exxential II riding helmet, courtesy of Zebra Products.

UKCC Level 3 British Eventing accredited coach Sarah Houlden put Morag forward for the award on behalf of the Scotland academy. Sarah said: “Morag is one of our older >members and has enthusiastically participated in the academy and given wonderful feedback, support and encouragement, giving up her time to make contact to HQ to say how wonderful it is. Her attitude to learning is so positive and it really encourages riders young and old.”

Gloucestershire-based rider Vicky Stacey has been chosen as this month’s The Howden Way Spotlight Award winner for being a super role model and ambassador for the sport as well as showing camaraderie and support to her fellow riders. It was British Eventing UKCC Level 4 coach Marie Ryan, who put Vicky forward on behalf of the Wales & West Midlands academy. Vicky wins a uvex exxential II riding helmet, courtesy of Zebra Products alongside the title.

“From initially meeting and working with Vicky at The Howden Way Regional Academy in January at Coleg Gwent, she has shown real enthusiasm and a desire to learn,” said Marie.

Jemima Griffiths awarded inaugural The Howden Way Spotlight Award

Jemima Griffiths from Gloucestershire has been awarded the very first Spotlight award, supported by uvex, which recognises a member who has stood out as embodying the culture and values of The Howden Way. Nominated by Level 3 Coach Katie William, in respect of the Wales & West Midlands Academy, Jemima wins a uvex riding helmet courtesy of Zebra Products as well as having a spot acknowledging her achievement within The Howden Way pages on the British Eventing website.

“Jemima was entered for our very first Regional Academy day camp in December, but sadly her horse went lame days before,” said nominating coach Katie Williams. “She nevertheless asked if she could attend on foot to watch the sessions and help with fences. She also took loads of videos and photos of the other riders which she then sent me so I could send them on for people to enjoy and learn from. She stayed all day and was cheerful and upbeat despite the circumstances. I feel that her attitude that day epitomised the culture and values we are trying to establish within The Howden Way Regional Academies - supporting others and actively assisting their learning and enjoyment.
